We’re Chort & Chernoglav, your bona fide underground metal priests. At Heavy Metal Citadel, we deliver deep-dive interviews, razor-sharp album and gig reviews, and raw photo essays straight from the mosh pit, plus a few dark rituals thrown in. Think of us as your portal to the weirder, louder corners of global metal. 

What kind of content can I expect?

Head over to our Feature Your Band page, fill out the short form, and we’ll review your stuff. You can expect an interview, review, or feature. Then we’ll let our fellow Citadelians know!

Is Heavy Metal Citadel legit? Who are Chort & Chernoglav?

We’re two devout riff congregants. Chort, the Crop Infestor (Slavic brood and black metal obsessive) and Chernoglav, the Silver-Moustached Hero (a lover of everything from power to black metal). We started the site “cause it was something to do.”

How often do you post?

Roughly 1-2 times per week, ranging from album reviews and interviews to gig reviews and news. We push the heavy stuff constantly, our hardcore schedule mirrors a relentless blast beat.

Can I contribute content or articles?

Yes, if your writing bleeds metal, we’re interested. We accept guest gigs, photo essays, zine-style reviews, and deep-dive think pieces. Drop us a pitch via Contact, and if it rips, we’ll run it with full credit, linkbacks, and appropriate snark.

Do you make podcasts or videos?

Hell yes! Our flagship Heavy Metal Citadel Podcast is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, and other platforms. We serve up candid conversations with underground heroes, from Crescent to Spirit Adrift, each episode packed with stupid Beavis-and-Butthead-level humor and brutal insight. We’re transparent, light-hearted but honest. Reviews and interviews are written by metalheads with real-world experience in the scene. Everything is first-person and clearly sourced. If a band claims black metal, we’ve checked Metal Archives, verified their ethos, and listened to their riffs before blasting it.
